The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has announced that the final phase of the Appiatse redevelopment project will commence in October 2024.

This marks a crucial step in the government’s mission to rebuild the community following the tragic explosion in January 2022.

The project, which has been ongoing for the past two years, is aimed at providing modern housing, infrastructure, and essential services for the affected residents.

The Ministry highlighted that this final phase would focus on completing key infrastructure such as housing units, roads, and social facilities, including schools, hospitals, and recreational spaces.

In a press release dated Tuesday, September 17, and signed by the Chairman of the Appiatse Reconstruction Implementation Team, Benito Owusu-Bio, the Ministry assured that the government remains committed to delivering quality infrastructure to improve the lives of the people of Appiatse.

The statement also emphasised that the government is working closely with contractors and local authorities to ensure the project is completed on time.

“The Appiatse Reconstruction Implementation Team is set to commence the third and final phase of the Appiatse redevelopment project in October this year, 2024.”

“This phase will complete the resettlement of the affected residents. We wish to put on record that the Government through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is committed to ensuring that the 3rd and final phase will be completed in good time,” the statement said.
