Appiatse reconstruction: Gov't to commision 120 housing units today

President Akufo-Addo is set to commission more than 120 housing units in Appiatse, a farming community located between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region.

On Thursday, January 20, 2022, the entire Appiatse community was razed down when a truck carrying explosives to a mining site exploded in the community.

About 13 people were reported to have died from the incident, with several others sustaining different degrees of injuries.

The government promised to ensure the reconstruction of about 124 housing units that were destroyed in the community.

These newly constructed houses range from one-bedroom to seven-bedroom units and are equipped with enhanced amenities.

Additionally, auxiliary facilities such as a market, a six-unit classroom block, a kindergarten block, internal roads, water and electricity connections, a drainage system, and a water storage system have been included to improve the quality of life in the community.
