Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper Kweku Baako has said amidst the recent increase in armed robbery attacks in the country he does not feel insecure as most Ghanaians are saying.
Kweku Baako said he acknowledged the growing concern of how Ghanaians are feeling unsafe and complaining about the recent armed robbery attacks but the situation have not reached the level of national crisis.Â
"I'm okay with people who feel unsafe and complain, I look at some incidents of armed robbery attacks I personally also feel concern and worried but I do not feel insecure, I do not agree we are confronted with a national issue."
According to Kweku Baako, if there has been a national crisis Government would have activated state of emergency but ad-hoc measures do not indicate that there is a national crisis.
He noted that a sense of proportion should be adopted in dealing with the armed robbery attacks.
Commenting on the recent armed robbery attacks in the country on JoyFM's NewsFile, Kweku Baako cautioned against exaggerating the situation because it will neutralize and demobilized Ghanaians and make them impotent relative to the situation confronting the country.
Don't politicise the recent increase in armed robbery attacks
Deputy Minister of Interior Henry Quartey has cautioned the Ghanaian public not to politicise the recent increase in armed robbery attacks in the country.
According to him, armed robbery is a national issue and giving it a political dimension will not help the fight against crime.
Speaking on news analyses programme NewsFile, Henry Quartey has dismissed assertions that Ghana Police Service is not up to the task to fight crime.
