One eyewitness and victim of the Ayawaso by-election violence Hamidu Amadu says one of the National Security Operatives asked his colleague to slap him (Amadu) because he asked for their search warrant.
Testifying before the Ayawaso Commission of Inquiry, Amadu said the masked men who have now been identified as National Security Operatives stormed the residence of the NDC candidate to conduct a search and he asked them for their warrant but was told to be slapped.
"A number of the National Security Operatives came to the NDC candidates house from the road leading to the Presby school, there were about 30 of them"
"When the National Security operative took the key to our car, I stood up and asked them to show us their warrant. They showed us their tags but I told them that those weren't warrants"
"I shouted for help when one of the men in a black shirt and brown trousers asked another to slap me for asking for a warrant from them"
He also added that the National Security Operatives fired six warning shots when the crowd was growing thicker at the residence of the NDC candidate.
"As the crowd was massing up at the NDC candidate's house one of the operatives pulled out his weapon and shot six times forcing the crowd to scatter"
"Some of the National Security operatives who came were armed and some were masked so I couldn't make out their faces," he said.
 The Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election on January 31, 2019, was characterized by violence.
This led to the shooting and subsequently the injury of some 13 people believed to be NDC members.
This made the President set up a Commission of Inquiry to probe the incident.
