Cabinet will today Thursday, October 12 meet to determine measures to be taken against filling stations in the country that fall short of the requirements of operational regulations.
The meeting of cabinet has been necessitated after seven people died and 134 others were injured in a gas explosion at MANSCOÂ fuel station at Atomic junction in Accra.

President Akufo-Addo upon his visit to the disaster area announced government's plan to implement measures that will deal with filling stations operating in contravention of the law.
Former environment Minister Mahama Ayariga said just the clamp down on the filling stations will not help the situation but rather policies that will make the owners of the stations pay for the damage caused will make the businessmen cautious of their actions.

He noted "if the pocket of a businessman is touch, it hurts them more, so they should be made to pay for their negligence and noncompliance and their situations will be salvaged".
