MP for Tamale Central and lawyer, Inusah Fuseini says the Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo got it wrong on the mass production of lawyers in the country.
According to the MP, the Chief Justice still have the mentality that being a lawyer is a favoured profession, therefore, the should be a limited entry.

The Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo stated that she will not allow for the mass production of lawyers in the country, according to her if same can not being done for doctors and surgeons then she will not allow for the mass production of lawyers as being called for under her leadership as the head of the Judicial arm of government.

But reacting to the statement of the Chief Justice and also the recent mass failure in the entrance exams of the Ghana School of Law, Inusah Fuseini said, "The system needs radical reforms and I still hold the view that mass production of lawyers is not inconsistent with assuring quality control. It's about quality and you think mass production can't solve the issue? Quality control will solve the issue."
"All we are saying is that the courses taught at the school of law are teachable and can be taught at any faculty," he added as a remedy to the mass failures recorded at the school.
Mass failure Ghana School of Law
Another mass failure was recorded in the entrance exams of the Ghana School of Law.
Out of the staggering 1,820 candidates who sat for this year’s entrance exams for the school, only 128 students passed.
The exam was made up of 20 objectives section and two written questions. The results have been pasted at the school’s notice board for the viewing of students.
The development comes in the wake of massive public concerns over last year’s results which also registered significant failures.
Law students to hold demo
The Students Representative Council of the Ghana School of Law will be leading a protest on Monday, October 7.
This development follows the latest instance of mass failure during an entrance examination at the Ghana School of Law.
In a statement, the SRC said it plans to also present a petition to President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“While we prepare to demonstrate, we are all encouraged to post on all social media platforms about our plight using #OpenUpLegalEducation and #RedMonday,†the statement also said.
The statement also announced the SRC’s intention to form a group called the National Association of Law Students.
This will include immediate Past Presidents of the law students’ associations of some law faculties and other student leaders.
Previous agitations from the SRC of the School prompted the setting up of a Committee by the General Legal Council to probe mass exams failure at the Ghana School of Law and oversee reforms at the School.
