Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Saibu, has met with final year students writing the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) in the Northern Region.
During an interaction with the students, he motivated them to tackle the questions with all seriousness to enable them get good grades.
“You have already achieved a lot by coming this far in your academic journey but what will crown it is success in this exam,†he said.
Alhaji Saibu tasked them to make the region proud and expressed hope that they will change the narrative in terms of the region’s performance in WASSCE.
This year’s WASSCE exams started on Monday with students writing English Language and will end in October.
The Northern Region had 31 public schools and five private schools register students for the exams.
The Minister was accompanied by Dr Peter Attafuah, Northern Regional Director of Education, to tour the exams centres at Kalpohin Senior High School, Tamale Senior High School, Northern Business Senior High School and Islamic Science Senior High School in Sagnarigu Municipality.
He later toured Savelugu SHS and Pong-Tamale SHS in the Savelugu municipality to interact with the students.
Dr Attafuah prayed for retentive memory for the candidates to help them succeed in their exams.
