Culture exhibition must be enhanced in schools- Prof. Nyarko

Vice Chancellor of the Regional Maritime University(RMU), Prof. Elvis Nyarko has advised students to create platforms to exhibit their culture as they pursue academic laurels.
Speaking at a durbar to mark this year's Students Representative Council(SRC) Week celebrations which began on Monday, he said the school is characterized by diversity due to its international appeal but every country must be allowed occasionally to practice their culture without hindrances.
 
"We have students from Nigeria, Cameroon, The Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone adding up to the Ghanaians but they must all endevour to maintain their culture and also exhibit them freely,"he stated.
 
This he said, would go a long way to foster unity among the students and to a large extent among the various countries.
 
During the durbar, the various countries exhibited their culture by way of dancing and dressing to the admiration of invited guests and students.
 
Prof. congratulated the SRC Executives for the programs set aside to mark the SRC Week Celebrations adding that they must endevour to involve all students in their activities in order to maintain unity on campus.
 
"The RMU has over the years set enviable standards with regards to quality educations as well as discipline in the country and must be maintained by all,"he stated.
 
The RMU formally known as Ghana Nautical College and established in 1958, he said would celebrate its 60 years Anniversary next year.
 
SRC President, Eluagu Onyebuchi McDonald added that it was important to witness the diverse cultures of all the counties which would help students to learn from each other.
 
He added that, "coming together as one people seeking knowledge would help to understand each other and relate among ourselves better as students."
 
Activities for the SRC Week Celebrations, according to SRC Vice President, Amagyei Papa Brobbey include, RMU Stand in Worship, Durbar and Culture Display, Rep. Your School, Career Summit, Love Summit, Community Service, International Cooking Competition, Mr. RMU and a Fan Trip to Aqua Safari.
