A body of a man buried over the weekend at Assin Dansame in the Central Region has been exhumed on the orders of the chief of the community.

Nana Twum Barimah V instructed some youth to take the action because the deceased though a member of the royal family, refused to attend communal labor and ignored a fine of GHS 500 imposed when he was alive.

Speaking to Primenewsghana, Elisha Amadu a resident of the area, said  the coffin with the remains was deposited in the center of the town causing fear and panic.

Some residents who could not stand the stench coming from the coffin then moved it to the town square

According to Nana Twum Barimah V,  the family of the deceased did not inform him before the burial, knowing well they were supposed to clear his debt before internment.

But in a sharp rebuttal, the Asona family described the Chief's claims as unacceptable,   emphasizing the fact that they had the right to bury their kinsman on the land without any permission from anyone.

Reports suggests that the District Chief Executive for the area is currently resolving the issue between the chief and the family of the deceased.Â
