The Ranking Member for the Committee of Defence and Interior in Parliament, James Agalga says the DNA results of the human remains of the missing Takoradi girls has exposed the lapses in the security architecture of the country.

According to the former Deputy Interior Minister, the DNA findings have revealed the weaknesses in the management of the country's security.

Speaking to Starr FM, Mr Agalga said he is saddened by the revelation emanating from the DNA findings that the remains found in Takoradi happen to be the remains of the four missing Takoradi girls.

''The DNA findings seriously speaking has exposed the weaknesses and lapses in the management of security in our country. That to me is a worry to our safety and how the managers of our security have handled issues relating to the murdered four Takoradi girls''.

However, families of the kidnapped girls say they want foreign experts to carry out the DNA test instead of what the Ghana police has done.

Commenting on the families decision to conduct independent DNA findings on the remains discovered by the police, James Agalga said :

''I have no cause to doubt the DNA test results produced by the police. But the way and manner the police conducted themselves give the family some justification to say they will rather opt for an independent DNA test to resolve the issue as to whether the remains discovered were that of their relatives or not''.

''You could recall the police led by Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah said they knew where the girls were. Two weeks down the line the same person came back to say the statement she earlier made was not to be taken seriously. What has happened in Takoradi is a reflection of insecurity in our country''.

Citing scenarios of insecurity in the country, Mr Agalga mentioned the murder of 5 women in Kumasi between March and July 2019, murdered bodies discovered at Ashaiman days ago amongst others.

Meanwhile, the families have also issued a one-week ultimatum to the police administration to release the said report to enable them to carry out their own independent test or incur their wrath.
