Residents of Konongo in the Asante Akim Central Municipality woke up to the theft of a battery from one of the tipper trucks.
The vehicle was part of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) equipment unveiled a few weeks ago.
During a routine check on Thursday, August 29, 2024 officials discovered the battery was missing, prompting immediate notification to the police.
Municipal Chief Executive Robert Yaw Kwaakye has reportedly condemned the theft, emphasizing that such actions could hinder the government’s efforts.
He also assured that the Assembly would increase surveillance to protect the equipment.
Police in Konongo have launched an investigation into the theft.
