The Electricity Company of Ghana ECG is to install more transformers in its operational areas to ease pressure on the existing facilities.

This comes after six hundred and thirty (630) distribution transformers within communities across its operational areas have been identified as operating at full capacity due to increased demand.

This situation the company said has resulted in blown fuses and broken conductors causing outages, especially during the peak load period (7pm – 11pm) in the affected areas.

In a statement on March 11 , ECG said "we wish to assure our customers that transformer upgrading and new projects are on-going to relieve these transformers to ensure a more reliable power supply.

Customers residing in the communities and localities where the overloaded transformers have been identified are advised to report any localized outages or voltage fluctuations to the ECG.

Additionally, customers can reach out to the Electricity Company of Ghana on social media platforms for prompt assistance and resolution of any issues.

ECG further called on the support and patience of affected customers "as we work to improve our power distribution system."

The affected areas are Accra East Region, Accra West Region, Tema Region, Ashanti East Region, Ashanti West Region, Ashanti South Region, Central Region, Eastern Region, Volta Region, Western Region.
