The Asankragua Divisional Command have arrested a 31-year-old father for allegedly murdering his six-year-old son for ritual purposes.

Abdul Salam reportedly cut off the son's head and legs at Adidaase nearAmanso Amenfi in the Wassa Amenfi West District of the Western region with the intention of selling them to ritualists.

A resident who confirmed the incident to Kumasi-based Otec FM, said the boy went missing on Monday 24 April. The father denied knowledge of his whereabouts when asked by the mother.

The boy’s mother however spotted bloodstains on a cutlass belonging to the father. Suspicious of the development, she reported to the unit committee member for the area.

Abdul Salam upon interrogation is said to have admitted killing his son. He dismembered the body, picked up the head and legs for ritual purposes and buried the rest.

The incident was reported to the police and the remains of the boy were retrieved and deposited at Wassa Amenfi government hospital morgue.
