The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has announced the recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte (Tetra Pak – 250m1 & Canned – 330m1 Petillante) drink from the market.
According to the regulatory agency, the products are not duly registered and pose danger to Ghanaians' health and safety.
“Reasons for recall: The operations of the importer of these products are in violation of Sections 97, 98, and 103 of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851) as they are not duly registered by the FDA, making their sale and distribution illegal, The products are unregistered, The packaging and size of these products are deceptive and misleading, exposing children to potential accidental alcohol ingestion and posing danger to their health and safety,” part of a press release dated March 18 and signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Delese Mimi Darko reads.
The FDA advised consumers not to purchase or consume these unregistered products.
“Retailers and wholesalers must immediately cease distribution and sale of these products, All stocks should be returned to the nearest outlets of Cave and Garden Ghana Limited and FDA’s offices nationwide and the importer has been sanctioned, and regulatory measures are being enforced,” it added.
