Several wooden and container structures have been destroyed by a raging fire on the Agbogba to Ritz Junction Road near Madina, Accra, leaving many homes and businesses in ruins.
Despite challenging conditions, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) quickly responded to the fire and put it out.
The GNFS spokesperson, Alex King Nartey, stated that the structures’ flammability aided in the fire’s quick spread.
“It’s a lot of wooden and container structures planted together, so it made the spread of the fire much easier,” he explained.
At least 12 buildings were partially destroyed by the fire, but more than 50 buildings in the area were spared further damage thanks to the efforts of firefighters.
