FixTheCountry convener Barker-Vormawor will today, February 14 be put before court over a statement the police described as threatening the peace of the country.
Social advocacy group, FixTheCountry Movement over the weekend disclosed that Convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, was given access to his lawyers for the first time yesterday evening.
The outspoken convener of the pressure group was arrested on Friday, February 11, 2022, shortly after touching down at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by police for allegedly threatening to stage a coup if the E-Levy is passed.
Police say they will arraign him in court today Monday, February 14, 2022.

But many hours after his arrest, the FixTheCountry Movement alleged that Mr Barker-Vormawor’s whereabouts was unknown and was not given access to his lawyers.
Police released a statement to deny this claim.
However, on Sunday, February 13, the movement released a statement confirming that their embattled colleague has been allowed to meet with lawyers.“At about 6:30 pm on 12/02/2022, Mr Oliver Barker-Vormawor’s lawyers received a call from the officials at the Tema Regional Command of the Police Service inviting them for a meeting.
“The meeting, which lasted for about 2 hours, involved a discussion on the condition, treatment, personal liberty and the possible arraignment of Mr Barker-Vormawor.
“The police also gave the lawyers an opportunity to have a word with Mr Barker-Vormawor, who has been on a hunger strike since he was accosted and detained yesterday, Friday, 11th February, 2022, by unidentified armed men,” the movement posted on its official Facebook page.
