Cassandra Kwatia who started as an intern now heads operations at Clozar Group in Ghana.
Through her dedication to work and commitment over the years, Cassandra Kwatia now leads the operations department of Clozar Group.
According to her, she started as an intern and then assumed the position of accountant and now head of operations.
Cassandra Kwatia leads a dynamic team where her focus is on streamlining processes, fostering innovation, and driving efficiency and has within twelve months of her role increased Clozar group revenue by 10 times and expanded operations to Nigeria, Togo, and China.
Narrating how the journey began for her, Cassandra Kwatia explained that “It started with an advertisement on WhatsApp requesting for an accountant intern. At that time of Covid during my NSS days, we had to run shifts of two weeks in, and two weeks out of the office so I decided to apply for the role of an accountant intern to gain more experience in the accounting field.”
“I fully assumed the role of an accountant after my NSS and later was promoted to an office manager and then to my current role as head of operations,” she added.
As head of operations, she oversees the operational activities of Clozar Group and ensures that the workforce of the company is productive.
Cassandra Kwatia in her role analyses productivity data and optimising staffing capacity and also maintains a working knowledge of the e-commerce industry including challenges and opportunities in the sector.
She works closely with other heads of departments to improve efficiency and design new processes to improve quality or increase productivity and profitability.
Speaking on the impact of the role on her, she stated that “as an individual, it has given me exposure, I’m referring to leadership experience, I get to interact with the various functions of the company, this has strengthened my interpersonal skills and assisted in building a cohesive workforce.”
“Today, I am proud of the strides we’ve made, from improving operational workflows to building a culture of collaboration and accountability,” she added.
She advises that the youth to see the challenges they face at their workplaces as an opportunity for growth.
“This journey has taught me the importance of embracing change and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. For anyone contemplating a career transition, my advice is to trust in your transferable skills, invest in continuous learning, and remain open to new possibilities.”
Cassandra Kwatia expressed gratitude to her mentor Mr Oyetunji Abioye, colleagues, and Clozar Group for believing in her potential and supporting her through this transformation.
Cassandra Kwatia holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Ghana. She is pursuing an MBA in finance at the University of Ghana Business School.
