The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, joined the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Minister for Defence Dr. Omane Boamah, and other Government officials to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the 28th February Christiansborg Crossroads Shooting incident at the Nationalism Park in Accra.

This incident marked a pivotal moment in Ghana’s struggle for independence, as a group of ex-servicemen marched to the Christiansborg Castle to present a petition to the colonial authorities, only to be met with gunfire, resulting in the deaths of Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, and Private Odartey Lamptey.

The ceremony included a flag-raising ceremony in honour of the fallen heroes and a wreath-laying ceremony, where the Vice President, H.E. Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang laid a wreath on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana.

The ceremony is marked annually to remember the sacrifices of the fallen heroes.
