The Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ms Ama Pomaa Boateng, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with all stakeholders to build a resilient digital economy to transform the nation.
Ms Boateng made the remarks yesterday when she led a delegation from the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) to visit the Accra Digital Centre (ADC) and the University of Ghana, Legon.
The KISDI delegation is in Ghana for a 4-day working visit to understudy Ghana’s digitalisation architecture, with a particular focus on cyber security, 5G network, innovation and other electronic services that are being championed by the MoCD and its agencies.
The delegation was also joined by the CEO of ADC, Mr Kwadwo Baah Agyeman; the Director for Research, Statistics and Information Management (RSIM) at MoCD, Mr Samuel Antwi-Gyekyi and other officials from the ministry.
Ms Boateng and the KISDI delegation discussed a wide range of issues related to digitalisation, including the development of a national cybersecurity strategy, the rollout of 5G networks and the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Ms Boateng said the government was working to improve access to ICT infrastructure, skills training and financial support for businesses, adding that the government was committed to creating a conducive environment for the growth of the digital economy.
She said that the government was developing a national cybersecurity strategy that would help to protect Ghana’s critical infrastructure and data.
The KISDI delegation was impressed with Ghana’s progress in the digital space and was confident that Ghana would continue to be a leader in digitalisation in Africa.
The visit of the KISDI delegation is a sign of the growing cooperation between Ghana and Korea in the area of digitalisation.
