Government has condemned the shooting incident that happened at the NDC party office in Kumasi which led to the death of one person and several others injured.
The incident happened during a meeting between National executives and Regional executives when the party office was attacked by some gunmen yesterday February 18 2019.
The statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said:Â ''Government expresses condolences to the bereaved families, wishes the injured a speedy recovery and urges the police to speed up investigations to bring the perpetrators to book''
Meanwhile, security Analyst, Dr Kwesi Aning in an interview with Starr FM said there will be an escalation of violence if political groups fail to disband vigilante groups
He stated that:''Since the beginning when you establish politically affiliated violent groups and you promise as to what they can expect when they deliver on what you expect them to do and you fail to deliver one is that the group begins to splinter, they fight among themselves and eventually begin to attack those who organized them and finally challenge the authority of the state''.
''We have seen this splinter on both sides that is vigilante established by both sides. Therefore we will see an escalation of violence as a result of the split. The danger, however, is whether we won't see this infiltration of these groups by even more radicalized violence extremist organizations who will hijack them and perpetrate even more violence. This is just the beginning and I am far from surprise.''
