The Ghana Port and Habour Authority(GPHA)  is calling for an immediate review of the law that established the outfit due to an increase in private partnerships.

The outfit insist that, portions of the PNDC Law 116,Act 1986 has some flaws which must be addressed urgently to ensure the vision of the Authority is achieved.

Ag. General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Affairs of GPHA, Esther Donkor, said, the law must be reviewed to help sanitize activities at Ghana's Port.

"There is the need to review our law. At the time the law was put in place, the number of private people was very minimal", she stated.

She added that, though the law made some room for private persons as far as licensing is concerned , there are other aspects including customer satisfaction and services that needs to be addressed.

"Other stakeholders do not provide the needed customer satisfaction and it is difficult for the vision of the Port to be achieved", she said to Joy News.

A review of the law she said would make it easy for some of the operations of private persons to be monitored.

Attempts to get Parliament for changes to be made, she said, has been unsuccessful.
