Speaker of Parliament Professor Mike Oquaye has directed the Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang-Manu to brief Parliament on Friday, December 8 on the preliminary findings on the cause of death of some students of Kumasi Academy in the Ashanti region.
The directive was given when the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase in the Ashanti region Muntaka Mubarak on the floor of the House today Tuesday, December 5, raised concerns over the mysterious death of students.
According to the MP if care is not taken the school will collapse as people will attribute the death to many things including rituals and occultism.

Three students; two females and a male died Tuesday morning at the KNUST hospital bringing to 13 the number of students from the school who have died since April.

24 other students are currently on admission at the hospital.
Last week's death occurred within 48 hours, a day before the school celebrated its 60th anniversary on Saturday.
Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah said treatment will be given to the students and staff of the school and by Friday the school will be close down.
According to him, to prevent any further outbreak the students and staff needed to be treated before they disperse, so they do not spread any infection to their family members or the public.
The Regional Security Council has also deployed personnel from the Ministry of Health, Ghana Education Service and the police, to help bring the situation under control.
