The Minister for Health Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has visited the La General Hospital construction site on Thursday to inspect the progress of work.
He expressed delight in the project’s development and was optimistic that the contractors would be able to meet the deadline for completion of the hospital.
Mr Agyemang-Manu said the hospital would not only serve the La community when completed but it would also benefit people living in Accra and beyond.
The Project Coordinator of Poly Changda Construction Firm, Mr Joseph Adams, stated that the hospital was a top priority of the government and added that the firm would do everything in its power to finish it ahead of time.
He said the accommodation block would consist of 6 levels plus the ground floor, making it 7.
On the whole, there will be 31 blocks of flats. On the other hand, the hospital will have administration, surgical and medical wards, all of which will be in one block but on different levels.
The main hospital blocks and the accommodations were undergoing construction as of the time of the visit.
The La General Hospital was demolished in July 2020 after the hospital’s administration reported severe structural problems. The project is expected to be completed in October 2025.
