I dropped out of the University because I could not pay fees- McDan CEO

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the McDan Group of Companies has revealed that he dropped out of the University because he could not pay his school fees.

Arguably one of the most successful businessmen in the country, Daniel McKorley could only attain a degree 15 years, after dropping out of the University of Ghana.

Mr. McKorley was speaking at the launch of the University of Ghana's Sports Fund. It is to develop facilities at the school and assist students interested in sports to develop their potential.

The McDan CEO said being very good at sports in his youth, he wished such an initiate was available in 1991 when he enrolled in the premiere university, so his education would be supported.

He called on the private sector to come on board, "the best way to help is through sports and the University would need the private sector for the fund to grow and achieve its purpose"

Mr. McKorley who was made a patron of the fund, donated GHS100, 000 and pledged continuous support.

McDan Shipping Company established in November 1999, is headquartered in Accra with Branches in Tema and Takoradi.

The company has a presence in over 2000 major air and sea ports worldwide due to a partnership with Universal Freight Organization, Cross Trades and World Cargo Alliance(WCA).
