John Kudalor, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has directed police officials across to stop inspecting vehicles for registration documents and drivers' licences.

In a wireless message sent to police officials across the country and intercepted by primenewsghana.com, the IGP ordered that personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTD) should focus on traffic management duties only.

The IGP further directed unit commanders not to issue permits for motor check duties.

The statement indicated that highway patrol units are only to check vehicles for arms, ammunition and drugs.

The statement comes barely two months to the December elections.
