Interior Minister calls for peace and stability in the country

Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has called for peace and stability in the country, saying without peace there cannot be development.

Speaking during a working visit to the National Peace Council in Accra, Hon. Muntaka noted that the peace and stability being enjoyed should be cherished and protected because they are the bedrock of every country’s development.

The Minister commended the National Peace Council and underscored the critical role the Council plays in promoting peace, stability, and national cohesion in Ghana. He emphasised the Council’s commitment to peace and nation-building through initiatives such as promoting inter-party dialogue, mediating conflicts, and fostering community engagement.

“The National Peace Council played a pivotal role in promoting peace and stability during the 2024 general elections, working closely with stakeholders to prevent conflicts and promote peaceful elections,” he added.

Hon. Muntaka stressed the need for continuous strengthening of partnerships between the National Peace Council and other stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, and traditional leaders.

The Hon. Minister also pledged to work towards mobilising resources to support the Council’s programmes and activities.

Hon. Muntaka expressed his deepest appreciation to the National Peace Council’s dedication to promoting peace and stability in Ghana, emphasizing that their efforts are a testament to the power of peace and reconciliation in nation-building.

The National Peace Council, led by Executive Secretary, Dr. George Amoh expressed their appreciation to the Minister and pledged their unwavering support to the Minister in achieving his goal for the Council.
