A group calling itself the Indigenous Concerned Youth of Ejisu/Akyawkrom in the Ejisu – Juabeng municipality of Ashanti is pleading the removal of their chief, Nana Osei Tutu Ampem II.

The irate  youth claim their future hangs in a balance because the chief and his traditional authorities have shown very little interest in the development of the Ejisu traditional area.

Their plea was contained in a petition to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, after staging a demonstration dubbed ”We want equity.”

The youth insisted Nana Osei Tutu Ampem II didn’t merit his stool since he had not made any meaningful contribution to developmental projects in the community twenty years after his enstoolment.

They allege  that the chief had made millions out of selling lands including cemetery lands in the community to fund his “selfish and personal” ambitions.

They also enraged by the deplorable state of their roads, a dilapidated six unit classroom block and a community centre in Ejisu,  which they argue the chief had accumulated enough wealth to fix, if he was committed to developing his town.
