The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has declared two former students, Richard Fosu-Boateng and Appiah Owusu, persona non grata for repeatedly infiltrating the campus and engaging in acts of misconduct despite their dismissal.
According to a statement signed by the university’s Deputy Registrar, Daniel Norris Bekoe, and dated April 11, 2025, the two individuals had long been removed from the university’s roll.
Fosu-Boateng was dismissed on March 21, 2022, while Appiah Owusu’s dismissal took effect at the end of the 2023/2024 academic year.
KNUST said that despite their official status, the former students have “persistently and unlawfully infiltrated the University’s residential halls, engaging in disruptive conduct, harassing students, and committing acts of indiscipline that compromise campus security and order.”
The university cited a recent incident in which both individuals were involved in an unlawful assembly that led to vandalism and destruction of property. Their actions were captured by campus CCTV systems and later confirmed by authorities.
In response, the university’s management declared the pair unwelcome on campus grounds.
“The University Management wishes to categorically state that these individuals are no longer bonafide students of KNUST and are henceforth not permitted to access or loiter within the premises of the University,” the statement read.
“They have been declared persona non grata and are to be treated as trespassers should they be found within any part of the University community.”
KNUST also issued a stern warning to current students, advising them against associating with the dismissed individuals. The university stated that any student found aiding or facilitating access for them would face severe disciplinary actions in accordance with existing regulations.
The university reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring the safety and security of its students and staff.
