The family of the former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) has visited the former President Mahama to formerly announce the demise of the of the former UN boss, Kofi Annan, to him.

The family of the celebrated diplomat formally announced his sad passing and the funeral arrangements and also invites former President Mahama to the funeral.

Former President Mahama on his facebook post on Wednesday said: “Had the honour of receiving the family of the late Kofi Annan, a former Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) in my office on Monday. The family of the celebrated diplomat formally announced his sad passing and the funeral arrangements.

Kofi Annan has for years been a source of pride to every Ghanaian and almost all Africans. His good name and reputation robbed off positively on us as a country.

As President, I worked with the late Kofi Annan on several projects, the last being a couple of trips in and out of Geneva when he personally decided to help with the mediation of the maritime dispute between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.

I looked forward to meeting him in Zimbabwe where he led a pre-election Mission, but unfortunately that did not happen.

I have signed the Book of Condolence opened in Accra and also sent a personal letter of condolence to the family. I am particularly thankful that our dear nation would have the opportunity to pay their last respect to him.

We must celebrate this illustrious son.

He lived a fulfilling life.

He achieved what most people will never be able to achieve in a life time”.
