President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle as the Petroleum Commission's Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
This appointment, effective January 17, 2025, adheres to Article 195(1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Petroleum Commission Act, 2011 (Act 821).
In a letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, Hardcastle’s leadership was commended, and her ability to drive the commission’s mandate was emphasized.
The President’s decision awaits the required advice from the Board of the Petroleum Commission in consultation with the Public Services Commission, as stipulated by law.
The communication was shared with key government officials, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, and the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, underscoring the strategic importance of this leadership change in overseeing Ghana’s petroleum sector.
