Former President John Dramani Mahama has donated some items to victims of the tidal waves in Keta, Anlo, and Ketu South in the Volta Region.

The items include 1,000 bags of five kg rice, 3,000 pieces of mattresses, 2,000 pieces of canned fish, 2,000 pieces of canned tomatoes, and 2,000 litres of cooking oil.

This comes at the back of a tidal wave that hit some communities in the Keta and Ketu South Municipalities over the weekend, leaving hundreds of residents displaced.

Mahama also inspected the extent of damage caused by the tidal waves at Anyanui.

The NDC’s 2020 Presidential Candidate said he could not sit and not respond to the cries of the people, who had been ravaged by the sea thus his widow's mite to alleviate their sufferings.

He opined that the items were procured through the assistance of some Ghanaians to support the victims.

He was accompanied by a former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC Henry Ametefe, Deputy Chairman of the Volta Region MPs Caucus, Kobby Woyome, the MP for Ketu South, and others.

A similar Tidal wave incident occurred in June this year when five communities-Agavadzi, Salakope, Adina, Blekusu and Amutinu-were hit by tidal waves, causing destruction to hundreds of property and displacing more than 1000 residents.
