The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has disclosed that new Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will be appointed within the next two weeks.

Ashie Moore revealed that President John Mahama intends to replace all MMDCEs whose appointments were recently revoked.

This decision follows a statement issued by the Presidency on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, which announced the termination of the current MMDCE appointments as part of a broader effort to restructure local governance.

In an interview with Citi News, Ashie Moore urged NDC party supporters to remain patient while the President finalizes the appointments. He emphasized that the process is being carefully conducted to ensure the selection of capable individuals.

‘Per our party’s machinery, this week we are also conducting a screening of the nominations for prospective candidates for those positions. So, I can assure party members, especially in my region, that if all goes well, by the close of the next 14 days, we will have MMDCEs in place. They should cooperate with us,’ he assured.”
