Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah, has described the charges brought against the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis Xavier Sosu, by the police as far-fetched.
He said leading people to demonstrate is a very difficult task and sometimes leaders find it difficult to control demonstrators so holding the MP for Madina responsible for the actions of some of the demonstrators is unthinkable.
“I have maintained that as somebody who has held several demonstrations as a member of the Alliance for Accountable Government, I think that demonstrating is a form of releasing tension in the society.
"Sometimes you cannot control the demonstrators but to hold the Member of Parliament responsible for certain damages, I think is far fetched,” Davis Opoku Ansah said.
The Mpraeso legislator stated that although MPs must be responsible for their actions as Parliamentarians and citizens, the individuals responsible for burning the tires should be held accountable for that action but not Francis Xavier Sosu.

He told Joy News that the police should press charges if they have established that the Member of Parliament for Madina took part or contributed in any form to the actions of the demonstrators but if they haven’t found anything, then the police is going too far with the issue.
Davis Opoku Ansah’s comments follow two failed attempts to arrest the Madina legislator who is alleged to have breached the law during a recent demonstration by residents of Oyarifa and its environs.
