The paramount chief of Likpe traditional area, Nana Soglo Alloh IV, has been unanimously elected as the president of the Volta Region House of Chiefs.
He succeeds the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV whose term ended after serving for eight years during which Nana Alloh also served as the vice president.
In the same vein, the paramount chief of Anfoega traditional area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV was elected the vice president. He contested two other paramount chiefs in an election.
Representatives to national house of chiefs
Five other paramount chiefs were elected to represent the house at the national house of chiefs. They are; paramount chief of Battor, Togbega Patamia Dzekley VII; Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV; Osie of Avatime, Togbe Adza Tekpor IV; Paramount chief of Anfoega, Togbe Tepre Hodo VI and paramount chief of Likpe, Nana Soglo Alloh IV.
The Volta regional minister, Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso who sat in the entire proceedings, commended the chiefs for going through the elections successfully and expressed the hope that their position as partners in development will continue to grow in the overall interest of the people.
The outgoing president of the house, Togbe Afede XIV congratulated them for the patience and involvement in the process for a peaceful election, adding that the spirit of friendliness that marked the election was remarkable according to graphic.com.gh.
