The National Peace Council has urged Parliament to resort to dialogue and consensus building over the 2022 budget impasse.
In a press release signed by the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Reverend Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, stated the following:
"The National Peace Council, taking cognizance of the potential impact of the happenings in Parliament of the peace and stability of the country, had separate meetings with both the Majority and Minority Leaders in Parliament on Thursday December 2, 2021. In both meetings, the Council expressed concern about the disturbing happenings in Parliament and called for calm."
The Council has called for dialogue and consensus in resolving the impasse.
“The Council…..appeals to both sides of the House to continue the path of dialogue in resolving the current impasse and those that way occur in future,” the statement added.
The statement further called on the media and all those who make statements on the matter, to exercise maximum restraint in their pronouncements to protect the peace, stability and the integrity in the country.
