President John Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fighting corruption, declaring that Ghana will no longer be a safe space for corrupt individuals.

He called on all stakeholders, including citizens, civil society, and the media, to join forces in tackling financial malfeasance.

“For those who think they can defraud the state and escape justice, let this serve as a strong warning: Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption,” Mahama stated.

The president made this declaration on Monday after receiving a comprehensive report from the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee. The committee, led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was tasked with identifying and reclaiming state assets allegedly misappropriated under the previous administration of President Akufo-Addo.

Mahama assured Ghanaians that his government remains steadfast in upholding accountability.

“To those who stand for integrity, accountability, and the rule of law, I assure you that this government remains your steadfast partner in building a nation where honesty and hard work are rewarded,” he noted.

The ORAL report documented a total of 2,417 suspected cases of corruption, with projections that the recovery of stolen assets could bring in approximately $21.19 billion to the state. Among the assets identified were state-owned lands and bungalows allegedly acquired unlawfully.

Emphasizing the collective responsibility in the fight against corruption, Mahama urged all sectors of society to play their part.

“We must all play our part—citizens, civil society, the media, and public officials alike. Together, we will build a Ghana that is just, transparent, and prosperous for generations to come,” he stressed.

Following the presentation, President Mahama immediately forwarded the report to the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, for further investigation and prosecution.

He assured the public that legal action will be taken without bias.
