The revered Golden Stool of the Asante Kingdom will go on display today Sunday, May 12, 2024, during the culmination of the Silver Jubilee of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The royal and divine Stool which is believed to have descended from the skies, will be part of the various treasures of the Kingdom which will go on display that day.

The procession of Otumfuo will arrive at the venue between 12 and 1 pm, while Traditional authorities in Asanteman are expected to be seated at 11 am.

The Golden Stool is adorned with intricate designs and symbols that represent the sovereignty and authority of the Asante Kingdom.

It is kept in a sacred place and is only brought out on special occasions.

President Akufo-Addo is expected to lead a high-powered delegation to the Manhyia Palace with the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Rowley being the special guest of honour.

Other dignitaries, traditional and political figures from far and near, will be paying homage to the Asante monarch and wish him well.

Authorities have thus announced major roadblocks and traffic diversions to ensure smooth proceedings and security during the celebrations.

These measures aim to manage the expected influx of visitors and maintain order throughout the festivities.

“This is to give dignitaries attending the Adae Kese easy passage to the Palace,”  the Manhyia Palace said in a statement on Saturday.

The Palace also noted that tricycles commonly referred to as ‘Pragya’ and aboboyaa are banned from the Manhyia Palace vicinity on Sunday.

The anniversary celebration holds significant cultural and historical importance, marking a quarter-century of leadership under Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
