The Ghana Education Service [GES] says the over 100 form one students who were repeated or withdrawn from Prempeh College in the Ashanti Region will have to pay school fees in spite of the implementation of the free SHS policy.

The PRO of GES Rev. Jonathan Bettey said the repeated and withdrawn students are not a part of this year BECE candidate and therefore cannot enjoy the Free SHS policy by government.

Earlier reports indicated that over 100 Form 1 students have been repeated and some withdrawn from Prempeh College for non-performance.

According to the report, parents of these children were served letters indicating the withdrawal and the repetition of their children.

Commenting on the development, Rev. Bettey said most of these decisions by head of Senior High Schools were not taken by them alone, but with the support of the PTA as a way to ensure students take their education seriously.

He added the over 100 students cannot enjoy the free SHS policy and their parents will have to pay for their tuition and feeding fees.
