Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry, has condemned attempts by some members of the public to blamed President Nana Akufo-Addo for the high spate of suicides that have rocked the country in recent times.
Speaking on Abusua FM, Owusu Bempah said the recent rise in suicide cases should be blamed on occultism in schools.
He said it was ignorant for people to blame the the government or the economic problems in the country for suicides.
Owusu Bempah was reacting to many opinions on social media and some public forums that have suggested that the rise in suicide cases in the country is due to alleged ritual sacrifices by the new government's leader before the 2016 elections.
Some persons have opined that the young girls committing suicide are as a result of Akufo-Addo's consultation with traditional gods for victory during his campaigns.
However, Owusu Bempah rejects these claims.
"People should leave Akufo Addo alone, he has nothing to do with the cases of suicide in the country. A lot of these young ones are practicing occultism in their schools and they never anticipate when an evil spirit will possess them and lure them into committing suicide…by the time they realize, they might have ended their lives," he said.
He added members of the public must not be hasty in drawing conclusions on the issue, but should look at the spiritual aspects of it.
