Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor has directed the clerk of Parliament to send an invitation to activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor over his 'bribery' claims.

This follows Barker-Vormawor's allegations that the Appointments Committee of Parliament demands money from ministerial nominees in exchange for approval.

In post on January 24, he questioned whether these alleged payments align with anti-corruption efforts, referring to the situation as “Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL).”

“So all the monies the ministerial appointees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL? Strange Republic,” he stated.

Reacting to these comments, Bernard Ahiafor has summoned him to appear before the Committee to substantiate allegations.

He is expected to present evidence to back his claims during the scheduled meeting on Wednesday, January 29.

“So, I am therefore directing the Clerk to the Committee to invite him to appear before the committee tomorrow [Wednesday] to substantiate his claims, or we will apply the necessary law,” Mr Ahiafor stated.

Failure to do so the "Committee will advice themselves" the chairman said.
