Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil has called on the government to just scrap off the deal with the Power Distribution Service (PDS) as he describes the deal as a 'cancer'.

Kofi Bentil who was speaking in relation to fresh claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the government is secretly working to restructure the deal said it will be best for the deal to be scrapped off totally.

The NDC during the course of the week said they have chanced upon certain document that proves that the government is using foul means to restructure the suspended PDS deal and give the contract to their friends and cronies.

Kofi Bentil speaking on Joy FM's NewsFile said the PDS deal is like cancer and the government should move to totally cut off the deal.

"This PDS thing is a mess, it's like cancer, cut it out and restart everything and do the proper things."

"After suspending PDS, ECG doesn't have staffs to work with so we bring back PDS and we are still in the mess.

"If you have a contract with someone and it contains material things then the person can't provide the material things then the contract won't work."

The government on July 30, 2019, announced that they had suspended the concession agreement with PDS over “detection of fundamental and material breaches of PDS’s obligation in the provision of Payment Securities for the transaction which was discovered upon further due diligence”.

The government then launched an investigation into the issue and after the probe, they are yet to declare their stance and let Ghanaians know the exact details of the said investigation
