The Minister for Health, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu has cut the sod for the renovation of Kibi Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.
The renovation of the Kibi Government Hospital is part of steps being taken to make Universal Health Care (UHC) Package accessible throughout the country.
The latest development follows government's commitment in addressing barriers to health care services to end AIDS epidemic and achieve Universal Health Coverage by 2030.
The Universal Health Coverage is a health care system that provides health care and financial protection to all citizens.
Addressing chiefs, dignitaries and residents at the sod-cutting ceremony today October 18 2019, at Kibi, the Health Minister stated the government's commitment to providing quality healthcare needs to its citizens:
"It is the desire of H.E Nana Akufo-Addo and his government to ensure that Ghana attains the Universal Health Coverage status by 2030 in accordance to the sustainable development goal (SDG) three(3),by that Ghanaians shall get easy and reliable access to quality health care at modern medical facilities regardless of your location in the country".
The Health Minister who doubles as Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central indicated that Kibi Government Hospital, when completed, is expected to have new a look with the following facilities and equipment ; X-ray ultrasound, OPD, laboratory, male ward, female ward, surgical, medical, maternity unit, antenatal ward, laundry, pharmacy, psychiatric facility, and other facilities.
The sod-cutting ceremony was jointly performed by the Health Minister, Hon Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Hon. Atta AKyea, Gyaasehene of Kibi, Nana Osaberima Ayinadu Kantamanto II, elders in Kibi, Health Directors and entire people of Kibi in the Eastern Region.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South constituency and also Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Atta AKyea added that Kibi Government Hospital was built in 1926 and since renovated in 1996, no renovation has taken place again so he extended his heartfelt gratitude to Health Minister for such a wonderful retooling and equipping of Kibi government hospital.

He charged the people of Kibi to support the government agenda and promised them of new infrastructure in the Kibi township.Â
