The first daughter of the last queen of the Asante Kingdom Nana Ama Konadu has been named as the new Asantehemaa.

Nana Ama Konadu succeeds her mother Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died at the age of 111 after her 39 years reign.

An official declaration is expected from the Manyhia Palace soon to be followed by processes related with the enstoolment where her stool name will be made known.

Nana Ama Konadu after she is enstooled, she will be the 14th queen of the Asante kingdom.

With a court of her own, she is expected to adjudicate in disputes concerning women including petty disputes and marital quarrels.
