Government is set to hand over to the University of Ghana in November the 650 teaching hospital whose first phase execution is done.

The $217m facility saw President Mills cut the sod for its construction with value for money audit done in 2012 and loan facility secured from the Israeli government.

Messrs Engineering and Development Consultants Limited moved to site in 2013 with medical consultation provided by the Sheba Medical Centre in Israel.

Interim CEO for the Hospital, Prof. Aaron Nii Lante Lawson welcomed Vice President, Kwesi Amisaah Arthur to the hospital premises.

“Well laid out, well structured. People who will go out for medical care need not anymore. This facility can also serve as hub for medical tourism,” he observed.

The Veep further expressed the hope that the best medial brains will be contracted to run the facility.

The hospital is the first of its kind in the West African sub-region.
