Hundreds of residents in Takoradi have embarked on a demonstration on Wednesday, to demand the resignation of the head of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service.

According to some residents, the calls follow what they claim is the shambolic manner Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah handled investigations involving four missing girls in the Western Region capital, Takoradi, who are now declared dead.

The girls; Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21, Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, 18, Ruth Love Quayson 18, and Ruth Abeka were victims of a kidnapping and murdering syndicate in the Takoradi area, the acting Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh stated at a recent news conference.

A spokesperson for the demonstrators, Benjamin Mensah, said this is one of series of demonstrations to hit the country until the CID boss, Interior Minister and Bryan Acheampong resign.

He added that they will keep on keeping on as said to them by the CID boss some months back until she resigns from her position.

We will not accept DNA results - Families of Takoradi girls

Families of the missing girls in Takoradi say they will not accept the DNA results that indicate that the human remains which were found at the residence of the main suspect is matched to that of their wards.
According to them, they want foreign experts to carry out the DNA test instead of what the Ghana police has done.

Speaking on behalf of the families and residents at a news conference at Diabene a suburb in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana John Entsie said:

''The police coming to tell us they have discovered a set of bones believed to be that of the missing girls is a cock and bull story. The sympathizers of the family will not accept the DNA test. We are urging international communities to come in as soon as possible.

''We want the police to arm themselves because we are coming unannounced. We are not going to be armed but they should armed themselves because they have proven to us that they have the powers to protect ballot boxes than the lives of ordinary Ghanaians. We will take the law into our own hands and do what we please''.
