Police arrest man captured with weapon during NPP-NDC Mamobi disturbance

Fatawu Ibrahim alias Fatau Motorway, one of the suspects in the recent clash between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Mamobi in Accra has been arrested by the police.

The arrest was made after the Police declared him wanted last week and subsequently offered a reward of GHS20,000 to anyone who could provide credible information that would lead to his apprehension.

In a statement dated October 23, the Police said the suspect is in custody and will be arraigned before the court soon.

“The Ghana Police Service has arrested suspect Fatawu Ibrahim alias Fatau Motorway, who was declared wanted in connection with the disturbances that occurred between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Mamobi in Accra on 13th October 2024.

“Suspect Fatawu Ibrahim was captured in a video footage with a gun during the disturbances in which two people were allegedly shot and injured. He is currently in Police custody and will be put before the court in due course."
