Scores of Democracy Hub protesters have been arrested at 37 Roundabout on the second day of their three-day anti-galamsey demonstration.
This follows the protesters calling the bluff of the police despite an earlier notice not to gather at the same location as they did the previous day.
They engaged in acts that seek to disturb the peace and the free impede flow of traffic at the 37 intersection, including blocking sections of the road with a vehicle, a police statement said.
It indicated the some of the "perpetrators of have been arrested while others have run away from the scene."
On the first day, the demonstrators unlawfully took over the 37 intersection to inconvenience other road users, the Police said.
These include the protesters burning campaign materials of the political parties, playing football on the road and harassing other road users.
Due to this the Police in a statement dated September 22 issued a stern warning to the Democracy Hub organizers regarding their planned protest at the 37 Intersection urging them to move their protest to any of the seven locations the Police earlier proposed.
"However, if the organisers insist on embarking on the demonstration in the same manner as they id on the first at the 37 intersection or at any unauthorised locations, the police will use all lawful means possible to ensure the free movement of traffic and prevent undue inconvenience to the general public," the statement read.
