The Office of the President has debunked allegations of involvement in a dispute over a piece of land belonging to Ghana International School (GIS) at Cantonments.

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin said in a statement that the presidency “does NOT have any interest whatsoever in the piece of land in question.”

This comes after reports that the Head of the VVIP Unit at the Presidency had been involved in a dispute with GIS over the land.

However, Eugene Arhin explained in the statement that Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Opoku of the VVIP unit was simply doing his duty when he handed over alleged encroachers to the Cantonments Police Station after chancing upon an altercation at the Cantonments barrier.

He added that the Chief Superintendent had submitted his credentials at the police station as part of standard operating procedure.

The Presidency has made a formal complaint to the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter and has called on the public to disregard any statements to the contrary.
