The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced the replacement of Yasarko Press, one of the printing houses contracted to print ballot papers for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
Yasarko Press was initially assigned to print ballot papers for the Oti and Western North Regions.
According to the Commission, Yasarko Press developed a critical equipment fault, prompting both parties to agree on opting out of the printing contract.
Notably, Yasarko Press has been printing ballot papers for the Electoral Commission since 1998.
Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, clarified that the change was necessitated by the equipment fault and not due to questionable capacity, as speculated by the National Democratic Congress’ Director of Elections and Information Technology.
“The speculation…is NOT TRUE,” he emphasized.
The Commission has swiftly reallocated the printing of ballot papers for the Oti and Western North Regions to Buck Press and Acts Commercials, respectively.
These printing houses have demonstrated expertise, ensuring the printing calendar remains uncompromised.
All political parties and independent candidates contesting in the 2024 General Election have been notified of this change.
The Electoral Commission reassures the public of its commitment to transparency, fairness, and integrity in the electoral process.
