The Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command in the Central Region has arrested a scrap dealer, Mumuni Abubakar, for allegedly stealing more than 200 cooking pots and coal pots within a week.
Residents claim the suspect stole the items when people momentarily left the kitchen.
After multiple complaints of missing cookware, a community-led search led to Mumuni’s arrest, with the stolen items discovered in an uncompleted building.
An opinion leader, Justice Soldier, has called for authorities to take action against scrap dealers in the area, warning of possible repercussions if the issue persists.
Residents, alarmed by the extent of the theft, have urged the police to strengthen security measures, citing concerns over the growing impact of such crimes on their livelihoods.
